The Goffer caught the eye when well backed and travelling noticeably well when 4th in the Ultima Handicap Chase twelve months ago as a six-year-old.
He made a sweeping mid-race move widest of all under Davy Russell having had a busy campaign prior to running in this race 12 months ago, and has been kept under wraps this season and has been better than the bare result in the races we’ve seen him in.
The Goffer was hampered on most recent efforts and is 4lb lower this time round, gets a pipe-opener over two miles at Punchestown tomorrow and that’ll put him spot on for this assignment on much more favourable terms.
He certainly won’t be coming up against either Corach Rambler or Fastorslow so you’d have to be hopeful with a fresher campaign, a year older he will go very close.
